Biathlon is scored by the amount of targets hit after a biathlete skis from a starting gate in front of the stands, comes to a complete stop, aims, and begins firing from standing and prone positions at a configuration of five black dots fifty meters away. The "targets" that are aimed at when standing are 115 millimeters in diameter (4.76 inches) and are 45 millimeters (1.76 inches) for prone shots. One minute is added to the competitor's final time for each missed shot.

Bobsledding results are based on the total time it takes for each sled to complete four heats.

Figure Skating judges award marks that range from 0.0 (did not skate) to 6.0 (pefect). For exact placements, decimal points are used. Each mark is converted into places-1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. The skater that has the most first placements wins.

In Ice Hockey, the main idea is to scoring more goals than their opponents. The carnial rule for the opposing team is that the puck has to precede the first player across the offensive blueline. Once this happens, offside is called which results in a faceoff. Violaton of the rules could prevent a team from playing at full strength because players are sent to a penalty box where they serve two minutes for illegal moves such as cross-checking, slashing, tripping, and high sticking. A player that receives a five minute major penalty must serve his penalty in full.

Luge winners are deterimined by whoever has the fastest total time after running two doubles or four singles.

Alpine Skiing consists of:

1. Slalom ~ To determine the final finish order, the times for the two heats are added together. If the racer misses the gate that he is suppose to pass between, he has to return to the gate and pass though it or face disqualification.
2. Giant Slalom ~ Requires the most technical skill- has a longer, faster, and more open course than a slalom.
3. Downhill ~ Fastest time wins and racers run only one heat.
4. Super Giant Slalom ~ In just one run, the winner is decided.

Cross-Country Skiing winners are determined by the first racer to finish. Men are required to race 15, 30, and 50 kilometers plus a 40-kilometer relay. Women are required to race a distance of 5, 10, 20 kilometers, and a 20-kilometer relay.

In Ski Jumping the scores are based on the distance and form of the two jumps each competitor makes. Each team has four jumpers in the team jumping competition. The three highest scores in each of two rounds are added together to determine the total team score.

Speed Skating has two competitons that include:

1. Long Track Competition ~ Two skaters at a time race, and the person with the fastest time wins.
2. Short Track Speedskating ~ First skater to pass the finish is the winner.
