The space travel’s effect to humans
From the first space travel (Yuri Gagarin, 1961.04.12) we know much about the side-effects of them, for example circulation disorderly, loosing balance, muscle-atrophy or osteoporosis. These symptoms disappearing after the returning to the Earth, but when spending much time in space, it could be very disturbing.
The orbiting astronaut isn’t weightlessness. The Earth’s gravitation pulling him/her towards the planet’s core, and this means that the astronaut’s weight is as much as on the surface of the Earth. The astronaut feels him/her weightlessness, because he/she falling free permanently. The space shuttle or station orbiting around the Earth, consequently there become a centripetal acceleration (circular moving, indicating the gyration’s centre), which is nearly equal as the gravitation force. If it wouldn’t have enormous speed, it would fall free toward the surface, until it would bang. But the lateral forces are flying it as fast as the Earth run out from under of it. The astronaut wouldn’t bang, but he/she is orbiting.
In circular path he/she feels himself/herself weightlessness, because all of her/his pieces falling, so he can’t feel his/her weight.
The astronauts preparing for this feeling with a lot of practicing. The springboard and roller coaster can be used for this, but the well-tried tools are planes, which flying stripe like the parabola, while everything within – including the astronaut - falling free. The plane ascending following the stripe, and slowing, but then it turning down, and moving faster and faster. The whole event isn’t taking twenty-five seconds, but during this time, the astronaut feeling himself/herself weightlessness. The Russians using Il-76 planes for this.
The feeling of the weightlessness flustering the body’s liquids naturally stream. On the Earth, the blood’s weight sensed in the lower part of the body, the pressure is much bigger than in the upper part. In the space, the blood circulating same in all parts of the body, so 1,5 l blood get to the head, not to the foot, hence the astronauts can get migraine. The body is on the defensive, and this means that the astronauts micturate one litre blood in the early few days. Beating and the heart’s capacity adapting itself for this situation, and it can cause nausea or vertigo.
In weightlessness, there is no „up-and-down” or „right-and-left”. Without the plumb, the organism loosing the correlating. For example, in the inner ear the little hearing-stones– because they no longer under the effect of gravitation – can’t inform the brain about the head’s position. Other disused interceptors idling (f. e.: Vater-Pacini corpuscles).
Under the first week muscle atrophy and osteoporosis can be noticeable on the muscles and bones which liable for moving. Under normal conditions, the bone cells perpetually perishing and re-building. But in space the muscles don’t knitting frequently, and they don’t provoking the bones for re-building, so they soon loose the most of their calcium, but this side-effect regenerate after the returning in a few months.
There is an other by-effect, the claustrophobia and obligate cohabitation. It can damage the immunity system, and decay the sleeping’s time and quality. The astronauts can be confused, they don’t know the nights and daytime, because on a space station the sun rise in every ninety minutes. All modules and engines are always burring, it can cause disease.
These side-effects look like terrible and unbearable, but before space travels there are always preparer courses, which fitting the soul and the body to bear the side-effects. (Very old men can support them, for example the 77-year-old John Glen)
There is help! Trainings and in-space courses
In the early days of the space travels, only the military pilots could get into the space, but nowadays anyone can do it, if he or she has enough money.
Preparing to space travels is done by great firms too. First, they coming through an extensive medical examine. After that coming the centrifuge and the returning into the gravitation, which is the body’s test. The applicants can talk with real astronauts, whom sharing their experiences. One of the best preparing to weightlessness is the parabolic flight (vide supra).
Military planes get up them into the atmosphere’s rim next, and they live through air-acrobat flights, which prepare them for the blastoff’s and the returning’s difficulties. There are the well-known underwater exercises, prepares to the in-space walking. And naturally, there are simulators, showing the astronaut-cadets where-is-what, and the area’s size in spaceships and –stations. This prepares the people for irregular emergencies.
There are fitting machines and daily schedules, and the human body conforming to it – yes, hardly. The gymnastic is ordered one hour per a day. The cosmonauts could eat just compressed, liquid foods or dried foods bite by bite. Nowadays they can choose which food and drinks they want to ingest under their travel. The menu contains meats (made in many ways), sweets (chocolate, gum, etc.), muesli, cakes, egg, fish, chicken, turkey, yoghurts, et cetera.
I hope, you can imagine now, one day consumers start on their journey, and next day wake up in a hotel orbiting above the Earth.
