The Damage | Hibakusha

Burns were affected by the type of clothing the people wore between dark and light clothing. Since dark clothing is more heat-absorbing, the dark clothing was often burned off and the skin was badly burned beneath. As opposed to lighter clothing where it’s more heat repellent, portions of white clothing remained. For instance, the pages of the book seemed to be untouched looking from a distance, the letters had been completely burned out neatly (Marx 179).
