History

B is the second letter of the alphabet. The letter B started as the Egyptian hieroglyph for a house. The Semites called the letter beth, their word for house. The Phoenician symbol also represents a house. The Greeks changed the Phoenician symbol and called it beta. The Latins rounded the letter to its present form.
