We found that younger girls were less embarrassed by their moms, and that older girls were more embarrassed. This would be because younger kids think that their mom is cool because they still need her and depend on her. Older kids are more independent and rebellious because they are going through a period of adolescence. For example teenagers think their mom is embarrassing because they (the adolescence) think they know it all and they are trying to gain their independence. As they get older they find out they really appreciate and need their mother. They also become less and less embarrassed of their mom.
