Urban Oasis

Fountains are sometimes placed in big cities to serve as an urban oasis.  The noise from the water can drown out the surrounding city noises or the fountain can cause people to stop, slow down and enjoy a less hectic pace for a short time.  Fountains placed in the city are also a way for people to connect with nature that may be far from the city buildings.
