Influences in History
In the sixth century, Buddhism came to Japan, and their Buddhist architecture came with them. However, when it was coming through China and Korea, the shape of the original pagoda changed. The original shape was supposed to be dome-shaped. But instead of a dome-shape pagoda, it became a a several-leveled pagoda. Not only did the shape change, but also the material it was made from. It was because, in China, they had a lot of wood and many unique building techniques in wooden architecture, as well as Japan, so they started building pagodas out of wood.
