Pagodas in China
When the art of pagodas came to China, the materials used by the Buddhists were changed. The Chinese had a plentiful land of trees and many of them were good at building with wood. So then, instead of the basic stone pagodas, more geometrical, wooden ones were made. The Chinese changed the design by adding more layers so the pagodas were a lot taller and sharper. Their height had a sense of power which is the reason why they were built so high. The ancient Chinese pagodas were mostly three to nine stories tall. A famous one was called the Yonging Temple. It was covered with red paint and gold nails. Many bells were hung all over the temple that were heard from very far away. Another famous pagoda is the Chinese Grauman's Theatre. It is located in Hollywood, C.A. These pagodas may have some distinctions, but each and every one of them were somehow influenced by Chinese people.
