Mallards

The most common duck on the Marsh is the Mallard, a big dabbling duck. A dabbling duck swims and upends itself in the water to look for food on the bottom and in the roots of water plants.

Their wingspan is anywhere from 15-16 inches, and they are 36 inches long. Their wings are silvery white. The color description of an adult male is a  gray back, a yellow bill, and a green head.

They like to nest in colonies and these colonies are found in cattails in deep water.
