Canada Geese

    A Canada Goose is a common bird. It’s wingspan is 6 feet. Their length is about 29 to 38 inches long. It weighs as much as 6 - 10 pounds. Their body is a gray-brown color. Their head is black, with a white cheek patch, It’s neck is also black. A Canada Goose is a large bird, and has a heavy body, and has a long neck.          

    A Canada Goose can make many different pitches with their voice, including medium to high pitches when they make honking noises.

    They fly in a “ V” shape. When they fly their wings beat slowly. They have a diet on mainly plants. They find their food in marshes and flatlands. Geese normally lay five eggs at a time. Canada Geese live for 30 or more years in captivity. 

    According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, up to 1,000,000 geese visit the refuge in the fall with the biggest amount at one time about 300,000 birds. This is a big tourist draw, with many people visiting the area to see the huge groups of geese.
