Freshwater Stingray

The freshwater stingray is the only animal at the Shedd that is named
after a car and a bike. This stingray is the envy of all the residents at
the Shedd. It is located at the Amazon Rising exhibit. These stingrays feed
on small clams, mussles, invertebrates and snails. Its skeleton is made
fully of cartilage. This is why stingrays tend to move more like birds and
not fish. Handeling a stingray is VERY dangerous because they can inflict a
painful and sometimes dangerous wound with the venomous barb that it carries
in its tail.
Watch Out!!
