Welcome to "News Spin," where you’ll learn all about news being changed from paper to paper, country to country, continent to continent and perspective to perspective. Maybe you are wondering why five eleven year old kids decided to create a website on news articles being reported differently through out the world. Well, it all began with a fun little project called, "The Crocodile Country Gazette", our school newspaper. As Sydney and Leslie published each issue their eyes were opened to the world of journalism. That world is made up of spin, opinion, and politics. Leslie, the editor, pointed out that U.S. news is reported differently in Puerto Rico. (That is where her family is from.). We realized that one of the most difficult parts of reporting the news is keeping your personal opinions out of your story.  You know, not letting your personal, cultural, or political perspective influence the way you report the news. Being aware of people’s perspectives and feelings about major news events makes everything more interesting and complicated.  Knowing this when you read the news can help you keep your point of view without the news influencing it. So take a spin inside our website…. and read all about it!
