Coalition for Peace Action

The Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) is a grassroots citizens' organization that brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and political persuasions to support three goals:

  • Global abolition of nuclear weapons
  • A peace economy
  • A halt to weapons trafficking and gun violence at home and abroad
    Coalition for Peace Action

In September 1980, a conference titled Can We Reverse the Nuclear Arms Race? was sponsored by faith-based organizations in the Princeton area. Nearly 2000 participants attended. A Coalition was established and dedicated to nuclear disarmament.

The Coalition's goals were later expanded to include the growth a peace economy and a halt to weapons trafficking and gun violence both internationally and domestically. The CFPA has continued to expand in central and southern New Jersey. In 2004, the Coalition expanded to eastern Pennsylvania.

The CFPA is affliated with Peace Action and United for Peace and Justice, two of the largest peace organizations spanning the nation.

Coalition for Peace Action Political Action Committee (PAC)

The CFPA oversees the advocacy work of the organization, lobbying elected representatives, sponsoring demonstrations, and helping educate voters. The Political Action Committee organizes lobbying, demonstrations, rallies, and candidate briefings. It is recognized by the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). At present, there are 11 active local chapters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A Steering Committee and Board meets monthly to direct policy, budget, and programs.

Using petitions, letters, phone calls, emails, and personal meetings, the CFPA lobbies New Jersey and nationally elected representatives to sponsor and support specific legislation relating to nuclear disarmament. Over 1700 households are contacted when important legislation needs to be advocated to legislators.

Through press conferences, press releases, radio and television programs, letters to newspapers, and editorial pieces, the CFPA conveys information to the media on a daily basis.

Peace Action Education Fund (PAEF)

The PAEF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that sponsors educational campaigns relating to nuclear disarmament, a peace economy, and weapons trafficking. The PAEF consists of four organizations:
