The dancing God / the destroyer /  the  embodiment of benevolence Shiva only yearns for pure devotion. There is no veil between the deity and the devotee..... just music and poetry.  He inspires total renunciation of the I and the MINE.

The rajasic bhakthi of his devotees like MOORKAR who killed without compulsion in his search for money to serve Shiva,  KANNAPPAR who plucked out his eye and stuck it on the Linga (Shiva),  KANAMPULLAR, who placed his locks in the lamp and ignited it for want of oil, look  violent if taken at face value.  But the principle  to be understood is this "IN THE MYSTERIOUS CALCULUS OF GOD'S LOVE THERE CAN BE NO SECOND TO THE DIVINE"  .

Ananda is the image produced by the dance of Shiva.  It is an active purposive, transformational instrument to lead man from the mundane to the sublime

The Yogi, The Dancer, the Pinaka, generous and always prepared to help devotees, the Digambara, wears minimum clothes and is  austere, the Ardhanariswara, who gave half of his body to His cohort ,the Trinethra ,the One with three eyes and Rudra, the Cleanser are  some of the glorious names by which Shiva is addressed.
