In January of 1861, Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States. South Carolina was outraged because Lincoln wanted to free the slaves that the South desperately needed to run their plantations. South Carolina was then disbanded from the United States of America and six other states followed suit. Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, and Florida were the state that disbanded. Four more states then followed after that; Virginia, Tennessee, North, and Arkansas were the other states that followed. They formed the Confederate States of America. This was the start of the Civil War. Choose Your Side |
