Salmon Species

Salmonid: Family of fish (salmonidae) which includes many commercially farmed species such as the salmon, trout and char. In general, Salmonid fish are found  in temperate climates and in clean, oligotrophic waters. While all of the species breed in freshwater, many of them are anadromous. This is a fish that spends its early life in fresh water, moves into the ocean where it matures and then returns to fresh water to spawn. Includes genus of Salmo, Oncorhynchus, Salvelinus.
