Orca In Traditional Culture:

All around the world, people have many different beliefs about killer whales.  Some cultures despise killer whales and others worship them.

 

                         

Kwakiutl people of British Columbia prayed for killer whales to give them food and in return offered goat tallow, cedar bark, and tobacco.

Nazca people in coastal Peru built temples to honor killer whale spirits.

Some Australians believed they were descendants of whales and possibly killer whales.  Because of this, they celebrated ancestral ties
