Fact or Myth: Orca are similar to Dolphins, Porpoises and other whales.

Fact - All of the above animals
belong to the class known as cetaceans. In fact, dolphins and porpoises are basically miniature whales.

There are some differences. Dolphins have beak shaped snouts and pointed teeth. Porpoises are the smallest of the three and have short fat bodies, short teeth shaped like chisels, and blunt snouts.  Whales are the largest of the three categories and may have baleen plates rather than teeth.

        Did you know?

Toothed whales include animals like dolphins and porpoises that can be as small as one meter in length to the large Sperm Whale which can reach 18 meters long.

Fact or Myth: Killer Whales' bodies are more like fish than mammals.

Myth
- L
ike nearly mammals, killer whales are warm-blooded, breathe air with lungs, give birth to young, breastfeed, and possess a form of hair or fur.  Swimming up to fifty kilometers an hour, killer whales are the fastest mammals in the sea.
