Holocaust Memorial

In the fall of 1984, Dr. Helen N. Fagin asked a small group of holocaust survivors to come up with an idea to developing a memorial for six million Jews who had perished because of Nazi treatment. They wanted to build something that would memorialize the victims, help those who had survived, and teach the rest of the world about this horrible event.

The Holocaust Memorial is in Miami, Florida. The Holocaust Memorial took over four years to be built. Its dedications took place on Sunday February 4, 1990.

Inside the memorial are statues of people struggling to survive. There is also a big black granite wall with the names of those who both had survived and died during the holocaust.

Dr. Helen N. Fagin said,” The Holocaust Memorial served its purpose to help people remember the six million who died and to keep it from happening again. “
