2,000 years ago the Roman Emperor Hadrian took
on a huge task to mark the northern boundary of Roman Britain to protect the
empire from attack from northern tribes. To do this he built an unusually
long wall which came to be called Hadrian’s Wall. Hadrian’s Wall
is in the United Kingdom.
People believe that Roman slaves built the wall, but the archeologists have
found guard uniforms and weapons which suggest the guards may have also helped
build the wall.
Hadrian’s Wall is 73 miles long! At its highest point it is only 15
feet.
Now a days children dress up as Hadrian’s slaves and walk on top of
the wall.
