Abraham Lincoln

Abe Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He became president on April 1861. Abraham served as president for 4 years. He was president through the Civil War. Abe died when he was 58 years old.

Abe broke down the walls of slavery on April 4, 1865 , by signing a bill called The Emancipation Proclamation. That is why most people called him “The Emancipator”.

On the same day the slaves were free Lincoln went to Virginia to tell the slaves they were free at last. The freed slaves almost worshiped him when they saw him. Ten days after the slaves were free he died by someone shooting him.
