        A hyena is a very dangerous animal. Hyenas and humans have been in contact in Africa and humans are killing these animals. Hyenas used to live in Egypt and Europe. Hyenas used to be fattened then eaten. The Hyena's reputation is very sly and cunning. There are three species of hyena in Africa  the spotted hyena and the rarely seen striped hyena are found in east Africa. Another shy and rarely seen hyena is brown hyena lives in south Africa. The Hyena's habitat lays in grasslands, woodlands, savannas, sub deserts, forests,  and mountains. Hyenas live in clans. They watch out for each other and hunt in a pack. Hyenas mark there territory by releasing a strong-smelling substance or leave there droppings there. When other animals smell that they will back away and find another territory. But, if they decide to stay there the two animals will fight for the territory. The Hyenas communicate  through calls and postures and signals. When it is bothered  the hyena signals attack then it does attack. The Hyena is a a skillful hunter. But it also takes lions and other animals prey. When the hyena hunts it bites it's prey on the neck and the animal suffocates and dies. The hyenas only predator is the human .
