Endangered Facts

in 1870, the population was about 125,000. But in the 20th Century, the population had an extreme decrease. Today, there are 5,000-7,500 left. At first, people were afraid to hunt them, but after the factory ship and the harpoon gun were introduced in the 1920's, that all changed. Humpback whales suffer from illegal whaling, entanglements in fishing nets, and death from pollution.
