Greater Bilby

The Greater Bilby may also be called rabbit-eared or greater bandicoot. They were once found all over dry parts of Australia, but now they are only found in central Australian deserts. The Bibly's habitat may be grassland bushes.

Due to little surface water in places where Bilbies live, the animals quench themselves by their foods. They eat different things such as termites, seeds, fruit, and fungi.

Their size is approximately 400 millimeters, and their tails are about 250 millimeters. Their color would be a silvery grey, with a black and white tail.

Bilbies are nocturnal, which means they are awake at night instead of awake during the day. They have strong front legs and claws. They use them for digging for food and for evacuating their deep pits or holes. They have a rear opening pouch so that when they dig no dirt or soil would get into it.

The females give birth to about one or two young at a time.  The young stay in the pouch for about 75 days, then after they are kept in a nesting burrow.

Bilbies are endangered because they have to fight with others for food, including rabbits and cattle. Cattle would trample their burrow.
