There are many different types of whales. These whales include:
Sperm Whales-(toothed) They are the largest toothed whales. Sperm whales are ranged in color from brownish black to dark grey. Sperm whales can grow to be 60- 120 feet long. They also eat certain fishes, such as cod, skate, barracuda, and shark.
Beaked Whales-(toothed) They have a beaked-liked snout, 2 to 4 teeth in lower jaw and 0 teeth in the upper jaw. Some kinds of beaked whales can grow to 12 feet but others can grow to 42 feet. The 18 types of beaked whales live deep in the ocean and feed mainly on squid and fish.
Beluga Whale-(toothed) Most of these whales live in the Arctic Ocean, but some are found farther south. They measure from 13 to 17 feet. Belugas are white or yellow-tan when fully grown and are often called white whales.
Bowhead Whale-(baleen) These large whales live mostly in the Arctic Ocean. These whales are black with white patches on the chin. Some of these whales have white patches on the belly, and whitish rings around flippers and tails. Males can grow up to 60 feet, while females are slightly larger.
Right Whale-(baleen) These have a thick solid body and a huge head. The head makes up about 1/3 of the entire body. These whales swim very slowly (averaging at 3 mph).
Fin Whale-(baleen) The fin whale is the second largest animal in the world. The blue whale is closely related to the fin whale and is slightly larger. Fin whales are dark gray on top and light gray or whitish below. Female fin whales can grow up to 88 feet in length. The female fin whale can weigh up to 80 tons. Male fin whales are slightly smaller. Fin whales lives in all four oceans. The fin whale migrates to cooler water to feed in the summer. The fin whale moves to warmer water to breed in the winter.
