About Sharon Creech
Sharon Creech was born in a suburb of Cleveland called South Euclid, Ohio. She grew up with her parents Ann and Arvel, her sister Sandy, and her three brothers Dennis, Doug, and Tom. As a family she took many trips together to Wisconsin, Idaho, and Kentucky.
When Sharon Creech is asked where she gets her ideas for books, she thinks it is a hard question. She thinks this is because " a book contains hundreds, maybe thousands, of ideas, squirming and changing and evolving as I write. I don't know the story before I begin writing" says Sharon. Sharon Creech has written many good books. Some of them are Absolutely Normal Chaos and Walk Two Moons. Sharon Creech uses her family in some of her books. For example, Sharon's book Absolutely Normal Chaos, is based on her and her crazy family.
When Sharon was younger, she took some trips to Michigan, Wisconsin, and once they went to Idaho. When Sharon was young she wanted to be and do many things. She soon discovered that she was nor good or had the patience to do a lot of those things. In college she took courses on English and writing. She became a teacher in England and Switzerland. She also became a writer.
Sharon Creech is married to Lyle Rigg and lives in New Jersey. She has two grown children. She says "Being with my family is what I enjoy most. Writing stories is second best."
