Kate DiCamillo

    DiCamillo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But, when DiCamillo was 5, a doctor suggested that she and her family move to a warmer area. The doctor said that the action would help ease her chronic pneumonia.

    Kate DiCamillo has a degree in English from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was the author of many books, including Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux, and The Tiger Rising. She now lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She writes every day- two pages, five days a week.
