Fast
Food Restaurants A fast-food restaurant is a restaurant where food is supplied quickly after ordering, and requires minimal service. All restaurants are required to follow health codes and there are standards just for fast-food restaurants. In response to increasing backlash against fast food restaurants, this restaurant chain has been trying to change the term “Fast Food Restaurant”, to the term “Quick Service Restaurant”. Consumers still refer to the restaurants as fast food despite the restaurant chain's efforts to change them.
Studies of Fast Food Fast Food is one of the main reasons for obesity. People who eat fast food often gain weight, become insulin resistance, and get diabetes mellitus. Today, 30% of Americans are obese compared to 23% from studies between 1988 and 1994. Obesity is responsible for 300,000 deaths and $100,000,000,000 in annual health care costs. There was more money spent on fast food than education, computers, and cars. People who eat fast food twice a week gain an extra 10 pounds, rather than someone who consumes fast food just once a week. The Lancet Study shows that 10% of total energy consumed by children is fast food compared to 2% in the late 1970’s. Surveys at schools show that 96% of children can identify Ronald McDonald. Most of the food lack nutrients, and is designed to promote consumption of maximum number of calories in the least amount of time. Parents should teach their kids early about a balanced diet and how to eat well. This food doesn’t really fill you even though portion sizes have gone up a lot in the past few years. When super sizing meals the food adds up to 25% more calories and fat.
