1. Two types of lung cancer

There are two different kinds of lung cancer: non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Which lung cancer it is, depends on the cancer cells themselves but on the speed they disseminate and the speed they grow. The treatment of course depends on the kind of lung cancer you got too.

Non-small cell lung cancer

What is non-small cell lung cancer and what is the cause?
Non-small cell lung cancer is a kind of cancer with, the name says it already, big cancer cells. Those cells are situated on a special way with each other. With other features the cell are put in other groups; big cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. How hard the cells grow, is different between each of them. By the squamous cell the cells grow the hardest but disseminate very slow. When it disseminates the doctor don't know exactly because the tumor can be longer in the lung before it was found. The times between the tumor getting inside the body and when it is found can be years. Then the tumor can be disseminated very far.

The most important cause of lung cancer is smoking. Smoking of cigarette, shag, cigar and smoking a tobacco-pipe. Some jobs can cause a higher chance on lung cancer, like working in a mine, making asphalt. By breathing in many damaging dust the patient gets ‘prickles', there is a change in the cells because of those ‘prickles'. Because of that the cells derail that means that they are acting not normal and they are going to grow wherever they want and it doesn't matter if there are other cells blocking them. The derailed cells want to go somewhere else in the body. So they go to another place in the body and make there a tumor or disseminates.

Small cell lung cancer

What is small cell lung cancer?
About 20% of the people, who got lung cancer, got small cell lung cancer. The feature of small cell lung cancer is that it got very small and sensitive cells. Those cell multiply very, very fast and can easily and fast disseminate through the whole body. Usual is the cancer disseminates through the body when the complaints start. The treatment is very different between small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. By almost all the patients are treated with radiation and/or chemotherapy, and almost never with an operation.
