Betsey Johnson


   Betsey Johnson was born in Connecticut. She spent her childhood in dance classes and was interested in the designs of the costumes. Betsey got started in the business in 1964, when Betsey officially entered the New York fashion scene by winning Mademoiselle magazine’s “Guest Editor Contest.” A year later, she landed the top designer position for Paraphernalia, a clothing boutique that at the time housed the hottest young London designers, including Mary Quant and Tuffin and Foale, among others. Her trademark
Look of feminine silhouettes, hippie inspired flowing fabrics, whimsical detailing, and most importantly, a fabulous fit.

Tommy Hilfiger was born in Elmira, New York in 1952. His clothes can be sold to anybody from 60-year-old golfers to gangsta rappers. His style of clothing is all-American. Many people wear his clothing including children, teens, adults, and grandmothers and grandfathers. Some people say that it isn't clothes, it's the label. Tommy has been refered to as the Ralph Lauren of a new generation, but now he is all his own person. He designs many things including men's clothing, women's cothing, home furnishings, and unisex fragrances.Tommy became the fashion guru of the 1990's and the biggest thing to hit the fashion industry in a decade. His styles are casual and the prices still remain moderate.

Ralph Lauren


Ralph was born on October 14, 1939, in the Bronx, New York. Ralph studied business at City College in Manhattan, and dropped out short of receiving his business degree. He worked for a tie manufacturer named A. Rivetz & Co., which ultimately led to the fashion empire he leads today. While working at A. Rivetz & Co., Lauren began designing wide ties, which spawned his first entrepreneurial career. With his tie designs and a $50,000 loan, Lauren founded the company Polo Fashions in 1968. Ralph Lauren still designs clothing and ties for many people in the world. More than a fashion designer, he was the best marketer of elegant living. In addition to clothing he also makes products such as furniture, bedding, drapes, towels, rugs, china, silverware, and even potpourri.
