The rainforest is a piece of land that has plenty of trees and rain. It is located where it is hot year round. Rainforest only occupy 6 to 7 percent of the world's surface area. The temperature is usually 95 degrees Fahrenheit or 35 degrees Celsius. Sometimes it drops to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Some areas receive 250 inches of rain each year. Thunderstorms occur about 200 times a year. Most of the soil is not fertile due to years of heavy rain that wash the nutrients from the soil. The roots of the rainforest tree grow up on top of the ground . The people of the world are losing its most precious biological treasures just as the people appreciate it. The rainforest is 14% of the Earths' surface. Now they cover about 6%. They expect the rainforest to be consumed in forty years. The vanishing rainforest is caused by the increased value of timber. The land where the timber once was is now being used for farming. Nearly half of the Earth's animal and plant species will be gone or severely damaged or threatened in the next quarter of a century. As a result of the vanishing rainforest, plants that could normally be found there, could possibly hold the cure for many deadly diseases. There 121 prescription drugs that comes from the rainforest. The tropical rainforest is located in the tropics near the equator.
