World War II What was World War II? It was the most destructive war in history. The loss of human lives was so huge. There was an estimate of 11 million. World War II was not like World War I. World War I was fought only in Europe, but World War II reached into Europe, Asia, Africa, and the islands of the Pacific. It was truly global. Here you can see all of the things that happened during this time of World War II.
Leaders Hitler Of Germany - Who was this man? The most important man of the Italy, Japan, Germany trio. Americans may have thought he looked comical and joyful, but there was nothing funny about this horrible man. Many historians believe that World War II was Hitler's war. Even though people knew Hitler was a threat to most of Europe, they waited until it was too late. He won the minds of many Germans so that he could take power. Well, once it worked he took over. All of this later led to mass murder to most of Europe. Mussolini of Italy - Mussolini entered Italy into the war in 1940. The conflict resulted in a large loss in his army. He was later imprisoned, but freed after two months. He was then executed for being a partner to Hitler. Mussolini never stooped to Hitler's evil ways such as allowing the deportation of Jews to extermination camps, even though he was the dictator of Italy. Tojo of Japan - Tojo was a military leader who ordered the attack on Pearl Harbor in December, 1941. After World War I, he became an exponent of the theory of total war. Nine days after surrendered on September 2, 1945, Tojo attempted suicide. He was condemned by the international Military Tribunal for crimes against humanity. Later he was hung in Tokyo on December 23, 1948. Many things such as killing, torture, destruction, and devastation happened during World War II and many different people from various cultures died. We should be thankful for what we have today and that we aren't put through these things that happened during World War II.
