Dictionary

     1.  Aftershock - A quake of lesser magnitude, usually one of a series, following a large earthquake in

         the same area. 

     2. Atlas - The son of Iapetus and Clymee and the brother of Prometheus. After the Titans were

        defeated Atlas was forced to hold the sky on his shoulders for eternity

 

     3. Crater - A bowl - shaped depression at the mouth of a volcano or geyser.

 

4.     Dormant - temporarily inactive volcano

 

5.     Extinct - No longer burning or active volcano

 

6.     Evacuate - To empty or remove the contents of

 

7.      Lava - Molten rock that reaches the earth's surface through a volcano or fissure.

 

8.     Magnitude - Greatness in significance or influence

 

9.     Pipe – A long tube in the volcano that connects the magma chamber to the Earth’s surface

 

10.     Seismic Waves - an elastic shock wave that travels through the earth

 

11.  Tropical Storm - cyclonic storm having winds ranging from approximately 48 to 121 kilometers (30 to 75 miles) per hour.

 

12.   Vent - a fissure in the earth's crust through which molten lava and gases erupt
