What can I do with my computer?

There are many things to do with your computer. From work to play!
Here are a few fun things that you can do with your computer:

  1. Smiles, or emotions, are little faces made from letters and symbols. People use these in emails to show how they are feeling, so people know if you're happy or sad, angry or amused. Here are some examples (you’ll need to turn your head so that it’s touching your left shoulder)
:-) Happy, :-( Sad, :-s angry, :-o surprised, :‘-( crying, :-P sticking out tongue :-D laughing, :-/ not sure and s:-] Elvis. You can change the : to a =. ) and ] mean the same thing, as do ( and [.
You can make your own ones. Open a new Microsoft word document. What would the symbols look like side on? Or if your smart enough try ones like this ^_^.
  2. Taking screen shots is an easy thing to do. I’m going to start with windows, dell etc. computer. Get the screen that you want to take a picture of, then hold down Ctrl and then press the print screen button (should be next to the scroll lock or just right of the page up key). Print screen will do but it isn’t as good as it doesn’t take the whole page. Now open an image program, or if you don’t have a good one, paint will do. You can crop on paint but its a lot longer than some other programmes. To crop on paint you have to select your image, hit Ctrl C to copy, Ctrl N to make a new page then Ctrl V to paste. On some programs, you can sharpen, smudge and crop. When you crop you keep what you select. It may not seem much but for a simple picture it’s enough. Go to the next paragraph to see how to take a 'screeny' on a Macintosh computer.
  3. Now screen shots the Macintosh way.
Press the keys of Shift + Command (apple) + 3. (The apple key can be found next to the Alt key and the spacebar). On a different system, it may be saved as a different file type: In Mac OS 10.x, a PDF file with your picture in it will be saved to the desktop. You need to open it, so choose Export from the File menu, and choose a new format to save it as. In Mac OS 9.x and under, it should just be an image file saved on your desktop.
  4. Don’t have a calculator when you need one? If you have Microsoft Excel, you can use that to add up, minus, times or divide.
Say if you wanted to do 342 times 4: In square A1 I would put 342. In square A2 I would put 4. In square A3 I would put =a1*a2 and then click on another box. That should do the calculation. Here are the other ones for +,- and ÷: =sum(a1:a2) for +, =a1-a2 and =a1/a2 (This is all saying that 342 is in A1 and 4 in A2) Add is +, Subtract -, times * (shift 8), and divide / (has to be /, it can't be \)

There are also games you can buy on the Net, or you can get free ones. One of the best free gaming web sites is miniclip. You can play free or you can buy some games to get better fun! Also you can play multiplayers, like RPG's (Role Playing Games)
