How to use your Computer

To use a computer, you first have to turn it on. There is a button on the CPU. It is one of the only ones there and it stands out. Press it, and the computer will turn on. Sometimes though, you will need to turn the screen on. It is the same look as the one for CPU. Now, sometimes you will need a username and password. Enter them and it will log on. Other types of computers you just need to click on a button on the screen using the mouse, and you will log on. Say thank you to Douglas Engelbart, he invented the point and click mouse!

Computers aren’t always perfect! Sometimes they will freeze. Sometimes programmes will not respond. If a program is not working, and nothing is moving, it probably will not be responding. If a message telling you this doesn’t come up, hit control (ctrl), alt and delete. You will either come up with a screen that says Log Off, Shut down, Task Manager, and Change Password or you will just go straight to task manager. If it doesn’t go to task manager you want to click the task manager button. If you are not already on it, there are some buttons at the top (circled in blue). You want the Applications (circled in red). It will say what the task is, ie. the program and the status, if its running or not responding. If it’s not responding, click on the Task, then hit end task (circled in black). A pop-up might say its not responding, so say end now.
