Jason
Jason was the captain of the mighty ship “The Argo”. The prow of this ship had the magical property to speak and prophesise in a human voice. He was responsible for slaying the guard dragon of the Golden Fleece. He had to travel through dangerous waters and had to complete several tasks to earn the right to obtain the Golden Fleece. For his first task, Jason had to harness two fire breathing bulls, plow the field they were kept on, sow it and reap the harvest, then king Aeetes said he would be more than happy to hand over the fleece. However, the king had no intention of doing so. The seeds turned out to be dragon teeth, which then grew into warriors. Jason defeated them by throwing a stone at one. The warrior, thinking that one of his companions had thrown the stone lunged at his companion. This caused a fight which left no soldiers standing. When Jason asked for the fleece however, king Aeetes refused to give it to him. So Jason decided to take what he had earned by force. Having slain the guard dragon, Jason took what was rightfully his from the clearing that it was kept in.

Theseus
Theseus first proved himself a hero when he was sixteen. He lifted a boulder which underneath it he found a sword left by his father. He set of to Athens by land and the route he took was full of villains and thugs. He met Sinis who often tied people’s wrist to pine trees. Theseus tied his wrists to a pine tree. Eventually he got to Athens. And soon revealed his identity. Eventually Theseus ended up in the labyrinth that had a Minotaur in it. Theseus killed the Minotaur. After that he went out of the maze. Theseus escaped from Crete in a ship. Theseus got back to Athens but forgot to do a signal. So his father ended up jumping of a cliff. So Theseus became king.

Hercules
Hercules was the most important and successful hero that ever lived. Hera hated Hercules and was responsible for making Hercules kill his children. After this incident, Hercules was set twelve tasks. The first of these tasks was to slay the Nemean lion. This mighty beast’s hide could not be penetrated by any weapon. His second labour was to slay the hydra. This cross between a lizard and a dragon would instantly grow two heads for every one cut off. Hercules eventually managed to kill it by burning the entrances of the necks. Hercules third labour was to capture the Cerynitian hind. This marvellous creature, although a female deer, had golden horns. Hercules pent an entire year trying to capture the deer, finally trapping it on the banks of a river. Hercules fourth labour was to hunt down the enormous Erymanthian boar. Hercules finally managed to drive it into a snow bank, immobilising it. After pulling it up onto his shoulder, he carried it back to his taskmaster. Hercules fifth labour was to clean the stables of king Augean in one night. These foul stables had not been cleaned for over two years. Instead of picking up a shovel and bucket, Hercules diverted a river into two pieces so that one flooded the stables, completely cleaning them. Hercules sixth labour was to kill the Stymphalian birds. After making them take to the sky by scaring them with some castanets. Hercules took them down with his arrows. Hercules seventh labour was to slay the Cretan bull. This horrific creature belched flames from its mouth. Hercules finally managed to overpower it and shipped it off to the mainland. Hercules eighth labour was to bring the mares of Diomedes to his taskmaster. These fascinating horses dined on the flesh of lost travellers who fell into Diomedes trap. He eventually managed to round up and bring back to his taskmaster. Hercules ninth labour was to steal Hippolytes belt. Hippolytes was the queen of the amazons, a vicious race of warrior women who developed the art of fighting on horseback. Hercules succeeded in taking the belt of the queen’s waist and escaping with it. Hercules tenth task was to steal the cattle of Geryon. Hercules was halfway to getting home with the cattle when Geryons guard dog, Othrus, charged at him. However, the hero killed the beast with a single blow from a club which he carried with him regularly. Hercules eleventh labour was to pick the apples of the Hepirides. These apples were guarded by an extremely high wall and Laron, the many headed dragon. Firstly, Hercules killed Laron by means of an arrow soaked in Hydra venom. Then, he asked Atlas the titan to get the apples for him. After this, he returned and gave the apples to his taskmaster. On his twelfth and final labour, Hercules was instructed to bring the guard dog of the underworld to his taskmaster. Eventually, after much struggle, Hercules managed to choke the giant beast to death and returned the body to his taskmaster. On his return, Hercules received credit for completing his twelfth labour.
