Prevention
How can people prevent it?
Doctors and nurses are trying to make a cure but they did make lots of medicines called tamiflu that might make you feel better if you got the bird flu, but it won’t cure the bird flu. Tamiflu medicines for adults are pills (Tablets) and for children are syrups. They also made flu jabs (injection). Flu jabs might help you not to get bird flu but it might not help. Farm birds are becoming ill with bird flu. Some farmers started to vaccinate all their chickens against the disease. But, the farmers will start to kill all their chickens if the bird flu gets much stronger than before.

What can you do to protect yourself?
Mostly to protect you is to stay healthy. It can be achieved by regular exercise, rest, balanced diet, reducing stress and not smoking. It is also really important to wash your hands on a regular basis, especially before every meal.

If you keep a live pet bird…..
If you keep live pet bird at home, wash your hands thoroughly with liquid soap each time after having a close contact, touching it or after cleaning its droppings. So just avoid live birds or poultry or their droppings.

Poultry eggs
Poultry eggs should be thoroughly cooked before eating. Don’t eat raw batter (cakes, biscuits/cookies) because they have raw eggs in them.

Travel information
But the most important thing is to avoid touching live birds and poultry. Consult your doctor and tell him or her about your travel history, if you develop fever after returning from a country that reports an avian flu outbreak. If you have influenza you should have lots of rest and sleep and drink plenty of fluid.
