The Beginning of Bird Flu

When Did It Start?
H5N1 was first found in humans in 1997 in Hong Kong. Scientist at the time indicated that H5N1 jumped from the sick birds to humans. The first outbreak of bird flu in 1997, 18 people became ill with H5N1. There were no human deaths from this outbreak, but chickens were slaughtered across the Hong Kong territory to prevent the spread of the flu.

Where did it start?
Bird flu started in Hong Kong then spread rapidly. Bird flu (H5N1) is even more deadly than H1N1, the (1918 virus). The first cases were a little boy who luckily survived H5N1, but a 27-year old woman died. For several years, researchers have warned that H5N1 will one day combine with the human influenza virus to produce a virus that will spread human to human.

Now?
There are not enough antiviral drugs in the world for the people who catch it. Aniseed is a main ingredient of tamiflu. If you get bird flu, tamiflu can make you feel better but it is not a cure. Bird Flu is spreading wildly right now between birds to humans. It spreads by the migrating birds. H5N1 is a cousin of the Plaguing Asia- first jumped to humans. Birds that get bird flu will be:
First slaughtered,
Then burnt.
Some farmers rather die with the birds than kill it because the birds are their living. Birds seems very important to them. Chickens that have vaccinated are much safer but humans can’t be vaccinated with the same ones with birds. Humans have a different kind of vaccinate.

What Causes Bird Flu?
Bird flu causes fever and exhaustion. It is a very firm illness and can not be taken easily. Different kinds of birds get it such as, Wild birds or Domestic birds.

Farms must be disinfected watchfully at all times if possible. It is the easiest place to get bird flu because it is full of birds. Birds are where bird flu comes from. You will never know where bird flu is coming or going.
