When someone is obese, that means they are 20% or more over ideal weight. They have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more. When someone is morbid obese, there have a BMI of 40 or more and are 100 pounds over ideal weight. Obesity is the second leading cause of unnecessary deaths in the USA. 60 million people are obese. This number is growing and because of it, there are over 300,000 deaths every year. Obesity is not just caused from eating too much. Obesity could be caused because it’s hereditary. It also could be cause from age, food choices, activity level, and medications. Since all these things affect obesity, weight reduction programs do not work many times. In fact there is a 95% chance of programs and medications not working.
