Dan Gable,
Dan
Gable had a career wrestling record of 118-1 at Iowa St. This is where he
became a 2 time NCAA champ (1968 and 69) and tourney MVP in 1969 at 137 lbs
and won gold medal at 149 lbs at 1972 Olympics. He coached U.S.
freestyle team in 1988, he also coached Iowa to 9 straight NCAA titles in
1978 and 1986 and 15 overall in 21 years.

In Bobby
Douglasses 30th year as a head coach and 11th year at Iowa State, Bobby Douglas
was the winner of Wrestling Institutes Newsmagazine’s 2002 Dan Gable
Coach of the Year Award. Bobby Douglass lead his team to a 147-52-3 dual
record and a stunning .735 winning
percentage.
Seven wrestlers on Bobby
Douglass's first wrestling team the Cyclones team earned All-America honors at
the 1993 NCAA Championship. The
Cyclones were 13-4 in in dual meets and Douglas was chosen as the Big Eight
Conference Coach of the Year.
In the year 2000, Douglas was named the National Wrestling Coach of the Year as the
Cyclones went 20-2 in dual meets, including a win over Minnesota for
the national dual team title!
Before
taking over Iowa State’s wrestling program, Douglas built
one of his own wrestling program at Arizona State. From 1975 to 1992, Douglas guided
Arizona State University, ASU, to nine conference titles. Also nine
top 10 NCAA team finishes one of which was the school’s first national championship in 1988. Douglas’
coaching accomplishments have not gone unnoticed he has earned conference
coach of the year honors nine times at ASU and three times with Iowa
State team. He
was USA Wrestling’s Man of the Year!

Cael Sanderson
Cael was born on June 20, 1979. in
Salt Lake City. He was the third out of four of his brothers to place
in state in Utah while he was in high school. His high school was Wasatch
High
School
in
Heber
City,
Utah.
His wrestling record was 127-3. He also has four state titles.
His coach was Steve, his father. When he graduated from high school in
1997 he went and wrestled for Iowa State. His second collage first he
won all of the matches, 39. He also won an NCAA title. He also
won NCAA Tournament Wrestler of the year. In 1999-2000 his record was
40-0. He also won another NCAA title. He won the Dan Hodge
Trophy as the best collage wrestler. He also won a world university
title in Tokyo, Japan.
As a junior Cael Sanderson was on fire. He raised his record
to119-0! He broke the record of winning 100 consecutive matches.
A record set by Dan Gable. He was named outstanding Wrestler in the
NCAA. Once again, he won the Dan Hodge Trophy. From
2000-2001 he was once again 40-0. He was the first NCAA wrestler to go
100 consecutive wins. He was the second NCAA wrestler to have won the
NCAA title four years in a row! He also won his third Dan Hodge
Trophy! Cael Sanderson set the school record by winning 159
matches!
When he graduated he started training for the 2004 Olympic games in Athens
Greece. He placed first in the Olympics at the 185 lb weight
class. Sanderson is also an art and design major. He is hoping
to go into a carrier in advertising design.
