Golf Legends Tiger Woods Eldrick T. Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Southern California. At six months he started to imitate his fathers golf swing. At age two he appeared on the Mike Douglas Show and putted against comedian, Bob Hope. He won the Optimist International Junior Championship at age 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, and at 15 years old. At the young age of 20, Tiger signed endorsement deals with Nike for $40 million and with Titleist for 420 million. At the age of 21 he won the PGA championship called the Masters by 12 strokes. it was the largest margin of victory ever. Tiger became the worlds #1 golfer in only his 42 week as a pro. Early in the year of 2003 Tiger became the first player to pass the $40 million mark in career earnings. tiger was one of three players to win the Masters four or more times. Jack Nicholas Jack Nicholas the world famous golfer was born in Columbus Ohio in 1940. Jack won the U.S. Amateur title in 1959 and 1961 and then he turned professional. He was the runner -up to Arnold Palmer in the 1960 U.S. Open. He has won all the worlds major tournaments: the British Open three years, the U.S. Open four times, the Professional Golfers Association tournament five times which is tied for a record. He has won the most Masters tournaments at six. At his 1986 Masters victory he was 46 years 86 days old, the oldest winner of the event. Jack's 18 Professional wins is a world record. Jack continues to play today. He is also very involved in making golf course and golf club designs.
Phil Mickleson Phil Mickleson was born in San Diego California on June 16, 1970. Phil started playing golf at the age of one and a half. He won a lot of amateur tournaments in college. He turned professional in 1992 and played in the U.S. Open. Since then he is the third golfer to win five events before he turned 25. Phil golf's left handed, but he does everything else right handed. Phil in his lifetime has one a total of over 20 tournaments. Phil Mickleson has a high world ranking now and he is just getting better. Phil is still young so he will be playing for a long time.
Arnold Palmer Arnold Palmer was born in Latrobe Pennsylvania in 1929. He was one of the most charismatic players of all time. He attended the college of Wake Forest and had a successful game of golf there. He turned pro in 1955 and he won the Canadian Open. He won the Masters four times the British Open twice, and the U.S. Open once. His unique personality attracted loyal followers that called themselves 'Arnie's Army'. In all Arnold won a total of 91 tournaments in his career. His business interests and product endorsements helped him capitalize on his popularity.
