• Established in 1970.

• Of the teams that joined their fans were not very happy.

• The AFC currently consists of 16 teams organized into four divisions (East, West, South, and North)

• Each Team plays the other teams twice home and away.   

• The same system is used for the NFC.

• At the end of each season there are playoff games that the top six teams go to.

• The winner receives the Lamar Hunt Trophy.

• The AFC champions play in the Super Bowl.
