Earl R. Anthony Earl R. Anthony was born on April 27, 1938 in Kent, WA. He was nicknamed "Square Earl" due to his crew cut and glasses. He wanted to be a left handed pitcher in the major leagues when he was a kid. An ankle injury destroyed his inspiration. Next he took up bowling as a hobby and then he joined the pro tour for seven tournaments in 1962, but he did not win any money in any of the tournaments. In 1970 he attempted again to bowl and in a short time he was the best on the tour. During the tour he earned $107,585 in the tour which made him the first bowler to make over $100,000 in one season. He was the bowler of the year from 1974 through 1976 and 1981 through 1983. He led the PBA tour in scoring for five years. Earl retired temporarily in 1984 with a career earning of $1,216,421 and 41 tour victories. He won the ABC Masters tournament in 1977 and in 1984. He won the PBA national tournament from 1973 through 1975 and from 1981 to 1983. He also won the Firestone Tournament of Champions in 1974 and 1978. Earl entered 12 tournaments 1987, but only won $8,850. Then he joined the PBA senior tour in 19889 and he won four tournaments be fore retiring in1991. Earls 41 wins is the record for the most wins and he now ranks fourth in prize money.
Walter Ray Williams Jr. Walter Ray Williams Jr. was born in Ocala, FL. He was a right handed bowler and joined the PBA in 1980 and his date of birth was 10/6/1956. He was the second most winner in the history of the PBA. He is tied with Mark Roth at 34 titles. He had won five PBA Player of the Year Awards. He second in most PBA Player of the Year Awards only behind Earl Anthony who has six. He also won many other awards like the Harry Smith Point leader (won five times) and the George Young High Average Award (won four times). In the year 1997 he became the first player in bowling to reach the two million dollar mark. Walter has set the record for the most career TV finals appearance, 132. He was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in the year of 1995. Walter graduated from Cal-Poly Pomona with a B.S. degree in physics. He is a six time winner of the world horseshoe championships and a17 time California horseshoe champion. The horseshoe that is named after him is called "Dead-Eye."
