TENNIS HISTORY

Tennis has a very documented history. Tennis or lawn tennis as it was called was first played at a party in Wales. The first game was played in 1873. When it was first played it was very different. The courts were almost  un-recognizable to the courts that are used today. The sport may have been influenced by earlier games like squash and badminton.

Later on the sport mixed with the sport of court tennis that originated in France in the middle ages and was played by the nobles. Tennis is now played on many surfaces but the English tradition of playing on hard grass lives on  in many tournaments mainly Wimbledon. Years later tennis found its way to America through a traveler in the British colony of Bermuda. She brought back supplies and started a new sport revolution.

Through the years tennis has made many advances. From playing on the hard courts to  the high tech  racquets of to day. It is for sure that tennis has definitely evolved into a very competitive sport . It also involves a lot of money some of the prizes can reach up to 2 million.  Now the major tennis tournaments include Wimbledon, the Australian open, the French open, and the U.S. open. Tennis is truly a sport of evolution. The sport has grown into one of the most competitive and most watched sports in the world.
