Plans / Aims - Uniquely Singapore The Singapore Tourism Board has recently launched a theme for Singapore, Uniquely Singapore, which aims at informing the world of this place which goal is to give visitors unique and different experiences each time they visit making each trip special. The many unique aspects of Singapore are the Peranakan culture, the crave for local and international food, the world’s first night safari, the safety and stability, the scenic landscapes, Changi Airport, the Esplanade and orchids named after celebrities. Words like modern, culturally diverse, efficient and cosmopolitan are used to describe Singapore and are made standard. The theme covers all of Singapore’s good points. The Singapore Tourism Board is educating the locals about the uniqueness of Singapore and is planning to make people like taxi driver ambassadors. - Tourism Unlimited The goal for Tourism Unlimited is to create new space and scope for the tourism industry in Singapore to continue growing and expanding and contributing to the national economy. There are two aspects to Tourism Unlimited. The first, "Bringing the world to Singapore". It is about promoting Singapore as a dream destination for tourists and making Singapore a 'must see' location, attracting people from all round the world to visit Singapore and encouraging companies to invest in Singapore. The second aspect is "Bringing Singapore to the World". This involves Singapore's contribution to the development of tourism in South East Asia. The Bintan Beach Resort is an example of such a venture. The second aspect also includes selling of Singapore's ideas and products to the region. With Tourism Unlimited, the whole region benefits. When each country set targets outside their countries, the good points of each destination in integrated into one and collective attractiveness is achieved, creating unlimited number of ways to partner with each other to create a package of value. Together, countries can develope a stronger and attractive tourism package and will be able to generate more visitor traffic and share economic benefits. Tourism Unlimited is all about Singapore and its partners progressing ahead together as a whole. This brings out the spirit of cooperation and improves bonds between countries, instead of competing against each other at one another's expense. - Tourism 21 Singapore has been facing to stiff challenges throughout Asia Pacific. An effective response is more than just having more visitors arriving at Singapore. We must have a safe and logical marketing strategy and a most importantly, a vision. To take advantage of the rapidly-growing tourism phenomenon, Singapore cannot be a follower and follow trends started by others. Boldness and innovation are important aspects for what we hope to achieve in the 21st century. We must be a trendsetter, a leader, a capital. The 'capitals' of the world today are not followers. Financial capitals - London, New York and Tokyo - lead the world in finance, each contributing its unique abilities and strengths for the given field. The same goes for Paris and Milan as fashion capitals. To make a lasting impact in this golden age of travel, Singapore should strive to be a Tourism Capital. The vast and diverse Asia Pacific will give rise to a few Tourism Capitals, each setting trends in its own unique way. Singapore can and should be in the forefront of such exciting developments, along with other top destinations. This will ensure that tourism will be constantly generating revenue in Singapore.
