We've learned that many different gods were worshipped during the long period of early Egyptian civilisation and have chosen to share some interesting information about three of them.

Some gods were worshipped all over the country, but some gods were worshipped locally. There were over 2,000 gods and here are some of the better known ones: Amun, Anubis, Aten, Atum, Bastet, Bes, Geb, Hapy, Hathor, Horus, Isis, Khepri, Khnum, Maat, Neferchichi, Nephthys, Nun, Nut, Osiris, Ptah, Ra Ra-Horakhty, Sekhmet, Seshat, Seth, Shu, Sobek, Tawaret, Tefnut, and Thoth.

Fun Fact!

Often gods and goddesses were pictured as half human and half animal.
Ancient Egyptians believed that animals such as the bulls, cats and crocodiles, were holy.
Ra was the sun god, and the lord of the universe.
