The coral reef alliance raises public awareness about coral reefs, and they provide resources to strengthen the conservation efforts. They work with local communities, snorkel guides, boat rental companies, marine protected area manages, and government agencies.

Where They Work

The Coral Reef Alliance is currently working in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef Area in the Caribbean. In the past The Coral Reef Alliance has worked in Palau, Pohnpei, and Bali as well as in other regions.

International Projects

Organizations such as “Reef Relief” protect coral reefs in many projects. In some of their projects, reef mooring buoys have been installed at many popular coral reefs. Some of the reefs where these buoys are used include the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, and Honduras. These buoys prevent damage to coral reefs, by providing an alternative to dropping anchor. These buoys are available for public use at no charge.
