Hurricane Dennis was the fourth storm named. It was the second hurricane and Dennis was also the first major hurricane of the 2005 Hurricane Season. Dennis began in the Caribbean as a Tropical Depression 4. Then on July 4, 2005 it formed into a hurricane and it dissipated on July 13, 2005. This hurricane had started out as a category 1 hurricane but the next day it became a category 4. Dennis hit Cuba twice as a category 4 hurricane. It also hit Grenada, and the coast of Hispaniola. Then Dennis track became more northern and hit Jamaica and Haiti. Then on July 7, 2005 Dennis made landfall near Punta del Ingles with winds at 140 miles per hour. Dennis had also made its way to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Santa Rosa Island near Florida. The highest winds recorded from Dennis were 150 miles per hour The damages that Dennis had caused cost $4 billion dollars to $6 billion dollars. He had cost $2.23 billion to the United States alone. Also cost Cuba about $1.4 billion. Dennis took the lives of at least 88 people. This hurricane killed sixteen people in Cuba, 56 in Haiti, one in Jamaica, and fifteen in the United States of America. Dennis destroyed more than 3,929 homes and left more than 1,500 families homeless.  Dennis had also caused an estimated 10 tornados, strong winds, 10 inches of rain, and heavily flooding areas.
