Tropical Storm Alpha

By way of the powerful wind shear from Hurricane Wilma a tropical depression changed to Topical Storm Alpha on October 22nd. Alpha reached Barahona of the Dominican Republic and moved on to Haiti. Hispaniola’s mountains helped weaken Alpha back to a tropical depression. It was pulled over the Atlantic by a weather front. With Wilma beside Alpha it picked up speed and was moving faster than ever. All tropical statistics were lost on the 24th of October. Wilma and Alpha merged creating a very powerful Category 5 that crashed into the Southern U.S. We have another page that covers this hurricane. Alpha alone killed 43 people well it stood alone. Thousands of homes were flooded and thousands upon thousands of people remained in shelters. But that doesn’t compare to the destruction it and Wilma caused.
