TROPICAL STORM ARLENE 
Tropical Storm Arlene was the first named storm
in the 2005 hurricane season. It was
developed on June 8th and became a tropical storm by June 9th. It was formed about 170 miles west of Grand Cayman. It crossed the tip of Cuba with winds around 70
mph. While in the Gulf of Mexico, the hurricane reached
speeds of 70 mph. Arlene weakened prior
to landfall in Pensacola, Florida on June 11th. Arlene caused very little damage. Arlene killed only one person and had minor
damage. The storm was absorbed by a
front on the 14th over southeastern Canada.
